Retirees Chapter 2023 ~ Summer Update
Greetings once again to the membership:
At our June meeting we had a presentation on the wierd and wonderful world of Astronomy and Physics.
We voted on and donated $100 to help The London Health Coalition defer some of their costs in fighting the Ford Governments draconian Bill 60.
Some donations from our membership of clothing and cash were collected, Jeanny's Angels continues to request donations of new blankets, backpacks, diapers, cup of soup, socks, personal hygiene items, mitts, hats and scarves (men, women and children) would be greatly appreciated.
Membership can bring in donations at any meeting, not just Christmas. The executive will make sure any donated items reach Jeanny's Angels.
We will be sending a bus to the Labour Day Parade on September 4th; in May and June we had a signup sheet at the back table for this event. If you think you might like to ride the bus this year, please send your name and phone number to Rick or Peter (info below). There is no obligation attached, this is only so we can get a feel for numbers and what size bus we will need.
Peter is in touch with Bob Such to find out if it would be viable to share a bus with the Local 1520 retirees.
Sometime in early and mid August, I will send out an email detailing the bus trip and asking for the names of those who wish to take this bus to the parade.
Details of Next meeting
Time: Wednesday, August 30th, 10 a.m.
Lunch: Sandwiches, Chips and Salad.
Guest Speaker: A representative from the London Fire Department to talk about fire safety for seniors.
PLEASE NOTE: If you think you will be staying for lunch, please email us or let Rick or Peter know at the following numbers so we have an idea of how much food will be needed.

Peter: 519-659-9473
The precautions to ensure everyone’s safety from Covid 19 will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.
We will be asking the membership to monitor their own health and NOT attend meetings if they feel ill.
We will ask members with compromised health to seriously consider if they feel the risk of Covid justifies their attendance.
We will be making available a small supply of N95 masks for those members who wish to attend but who may feel their health places them at higher-than-normal risk or who have fear of infecting a spouse or grandchildren.
We will continue to monitor and observe suggestions from the Middlesex-London Health Unit and our Local 27 executive.
We will send out reminders towards the middle and the end of August
Please remember to RSVP your intention to attend the meeting and/or stay for lunch.
Hope to see you all August 30th
Till then, have a great summer, stay safe
