Labour Day Bus Trip and Retirees Meeting

Time to get together again!
September 5th - Port Elgin Labour Day Parade:
All seats are now taken for the bus to Port Elgin for the Sept. 5th Labour Day parade.
Bus Schedule:
- Leaving: Sept. 5th at 7:30 am from Unifor Local 27, 606 First Street, London, Ontario
- Return: approx. 5:00 - 5:30 pm to Unifor Local 27, 606 First Street, London, Ontario
- Restroom stops will be scheduled into the trip in both directions
September 14th - Retirees' Chapter Meeting 10:00 am
If you plan to attend the Wednesday, Sept. 14th regular chapter meeting, we are also requesting a confirmation here or by message by email or phone by Sept. 5th (sooner if possible). Normally we do not ask for attendance confirmation but in honour of our first meeting in two years, we are planning a delicious catered lunch for all and need numbers ahead of time for the caterer.
Our thanks to those who have already confirmed, you do not need to reconfirm.
September 14th - Executive Elections
In addition to normal meeting business, we are planning to hold long-overdue elections at this meeting.
It saddens us to inform the chapter that due to health and personal issues, Hector has decided that it is time to step down as chapter chair.
Positions for all Chapter Executive positions will be open, they are:
- Chairperson
- Vice-Chairperson
- Financial Secretary
- Recording Secretary
- Sergeant-at-Arms
Only Local 27 retiree members can stand for election.
Members who would like to stand should send their intentions to Local 27 in writing or through an email to the executive. Nomination to stand for an executive position shall also be accepted on the day of the September 14th meeting.
We thank those that have already contacted us and hope to hear from as many members as possible soon.
Lastly, if you know of a member who does not receive these updates, please inform them of this upcoming meeting and the need to confirm their attendance. Please ask them to contact us at one of the numbers on our web site or volunteer to pass along their intention to attend for them.
