Unifor Local 27 Retirees Chapter

Retired from the job, but not the fight

As the Year Draws to a Close

Posted on December 23, 2023

As the year quickly draws to a close the executive would like to wish a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season to all.

2023 was, to put it mildly, a very trying year for the world at large and our retiree chapter also had its share of losses and heartaches, but these were tempered by a good deal of fellowship and good-hearted companionship.

We can all be proud, that through it all, we still managed to show our generosity to those less fortunate.

When the final tally was in, we donated $760 to Jeanny's Angels to help London's homeless through the coming winter months.

Our chapter also donated several boxes of toys and a supply of coats and other winter wear that Carmen will distribute to those in need of warm clothing.

Peter and I dropped off the donation a few weeks before Christmas, along with another box of toys and donated clothing; Carmen was very, very appreciative and asked us to pass along to our members her heartfelt thanks and wishes for a joyous holiday season.

Carmen and Mrs Claus will, as usual, be handing out clothing and other necessities to London's homeless and less fortunate right up till Christmas Eve.

Once again, the executive would like to thank the chapter members for their extremely generous support of Jeanny's Angels this year. I like to think that Monty would have been immensely proud of our group.

From the executive, have a joyous holiday season.

Hope to see you all at the next meeting on Feb. 7th, our first get-together in 2024!

Your Executive.
